Cook County Jail Records

The Cook County Sheriff’s Office maintains local booking, custody movement, release or transfer, and available booking-photo records. Requests may be made through the official Records page in person, by phone, mail, email, or the county’s online public-data form. The office says requests can be submitted at any time, but that is not a promise that records staff process them around the clock.

Use the correct route for the question:

• For a released person or local release record, use the home page’s full agency search and public-data request path.
• For post-release supervision, consult the parole and probation page and the official DOC field-office directory.
• For a same-day custody change, check the 24-hour release page’s Sheriff and Minnesota VINE fallback.
• For an estimated date or alert, use the projected-release and VINELink pages, then confirm with the custodian.
• For a named detention path, open the matching facility page in the footer and contact its real operator.
• For a state prisoner, use the Minnesota DOC Locator or DOC Records Management.
• For federal or immigration custody, use the BOP, USMS, or ICE system that actually received the person.

Minnesota DOC Records

State-prison commitment, supervised release, and final-discharge records belong to the Minnesota Department of Corrections, not the Cook County Sheriff. The public locator may stop returning a person after DOC jurisdiction ends, so Records Management is the durable fallback.

Court and VINE Contacts

The Cook County court file can explain bail, a release order, a sentence, or a warrant. General courthouse hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; verify court-specific hours and holiday closures before travel.

Minnesota VINE assistance is available at 1-877-664-8463. The Minnesota Office of Justice Programs lists 800-247-0390 for VINE questions. Those services provide custody information and notifications, not the Sheriff’s full event log.
